Fellowship

Series:
Passage: Acts 2: 42-47; Eph 2
Service Type:
  1. Remember last week we had 4 Pillars on the screen.  The Apostle's Teaching, Fellowship, The Breaking of Bread and Prayer.
  2. Today we will speak about Fellowship. In our main passage in Acts 2 we see a lot of Fellowship, even teaching, the breaking of bread and prayer were done in fellowship with one another.
  3. What is Fellowship? In GCC it could be coffee together. Supporters of a team in sports have a lot in common. Fellowship in church is different. What is the basis of our fellowship? It's something deep - God Himself. God is perfect fellowship within Himself. God is One and we don't really understand the Trinity. He wants that fellowship to reach others as well, because we are created in His image. He wants us to have communion with Him and with others as well.
  4. We all know that we are not perfect images of God. Communion starts in God Himself and reaches out to us. We all have a calling individually to share God with others, but also together. God's life flows in us - through His body, the Church. To know Christ is to have eternal life. This is not just knowing facts about Christ, but to have communion with Him. What should we expect from having Communion with God? Because God is a communicator we should expect Him to speak through us and to us. He saves us and He heals us, restores us through His body.
  5. In the early church there were signs and wonders as they gathered together every day. Something important was how they loved one another. God loves us and has put us together. We were sinners but we are saved through Christ's death. God's purpose was to created a new humanity and that's what we are! We should live in a different way with God's life in us all together.
  6. This different life comes from God, we cannot do it ourselves. All we should do is to facilitate the flow of this life and not hinder the flow from God.
  7. We should see ourselves and others as being created in God's image.
  8. We see that in the early Church they shared everything and even helped other churches in need, they even laid down their lives for one another.
  9. Fellowship does not mean that we must all act in the same way, but we must experience Christ together. We are His Body.
  10. Modern society is different, it's all about me, and no one should care what I do. God has put us together as a family and we cannot choose our family. We can support one another together, growing in love, wisdom. Let's be thankful for one another.
